Say What?

Tue Jul 25, 2006, 9:15 PM
I am shortly about to run screaming from the internet. There is a very simple reason for this disgust. It has nothing to do with the rampant porn, or the annoying pop-ups, or even the whiny blogs.

No my disgust stems from spelling.

As your semi-average teenage net-surfer, I have performed my share of typos and mistakes, it happens to us all. And I have gotten used to the WoRdS wItH BIzzARrE capitalization. And to the simplifications, like lol, nm, and, my favorite, omgg2gbbq. And heck I even kinda like 1337. (411 j00r |34$3 |2 |3310|\|6 2 |_|$ @_@)

No I am disgusted by the people who reputedly write legitimate works, of fiction and nonfiction, and have abysmal spelling. I mean if you're spelling words like supercalifragilisticexpialidocious a misplaced letter or two is understandable. If you are having trouble with words like aren't (arn't) I recommend a short jaunt back to elementary school. I have encountered spelling errors like these all over the place: webcomics, blogs, and, most distressingly, deviations.

Now I can understand posting something in a rush, and I know some webcomics that are hand-drawn are difficult to change, but please, even if you've already posted something, take the time to copy-paste it into Word and run a spell check. It takes all of two seconds, and while it doesn't catch everything, it makes what you've written a hell of a lot easier to understand.

Oh and by the way the word that pisses me off the most: definitely. It's d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y, no a, not definitly, not definately, and definitely not defiantly.

End Rant

I got tagged

So the rules are:
First, the tagger says 6 habits/things about themself.
Next, the tagger picks 6 other people to tag and lists them on the their journal.
Then, those picked 6 people need to do a journal entry explaining the rules clearly and do 6 habits/things about theirselves, too.
Remember: after doing this, you leave a comment on the people you picked's DA page stating that they have been tagged and tell them to read your journal for details.

Ok lessee here

1. I am a general use nerd, if you can think of something considered nerdy, I've probably done it or attempted to do it.

2. I officially have ADD as of two or three weeks ago

3. I read more books first semester than many people do in 5 years, and then had to have them taken away until my grades got better

4. If I have a day to myself I'll generally pick a random webcomic off thewebcomiclist.com and read through it, occasionally more if I pick short comics

5. I am male and can dance mwahahaha

6. I am a Cancer

Well I don't know 6 people on DA so I'm going to alter the rules to this a little: the first six people to read my journal after this post have been tagged, please put a little note to inform others so I don't tag like sixty people, and so I can thank you for viewing my page.
